NHS Southend Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been removed from Special Measures and received an improved rating by the NHS England and Improvement annual assurance process.

The CCG was recognised for making considerable progress in addressing governance and leadership requirements and financial management concerns.

A number of other areas of good practice were outlined including improvement of A&E resilience, continued focus on delivery of services to patients, its primary care strategy and adopting a more strategic perspective.

Dr Jose Garcia Lobera, Clinical Chair for NHS Southend CCG said:

“The removal from Special Measures and the improved rating reflects the ongoing work we are doing to deliver the very best services for our locality. We will aspire to be outstanding in all areas and continue to build on the relationships we have with our NHS partners and internal and external stakeholders to improve any performance issues that impact of the care our patients receive. I would like to take the opportunity to thank members of the organisation, staff and partners for their continued involvement and support”.
